Looks Inspired by American Hustle

lookIt’s Valentine’s Day, and I do realize this post is a little over the top, but my friend and I just couldn’t help ourselves after watching American Hustle a few nights ago. The wardrobe in this movie was amazing, and the hair and make-up immediately had my wheels turning on how I wanted to recreate these looks. Believe it or not, my friend Monet had all of these pieces just hanging in her closet! I know, every girls dream. This movie had me in awe. I loved the sex appeal that these women exuded. I thought to myself, being Valentine’s Day and all, this would be the perfect day to take your look to another level and blow your man away (okay, maybe this is slightly over the top) but just imagine how many heads you will turn! For both looks, we started with my usual favorite Dolce & Gabbana Foundation and Powder. For Monet’s look, I used a toned down neutral palette starting with the eyes. I first used a MAC Eyeshadow in Coquette. I then layered along the lashline, an eyeshadow by Laura Mercier called Black Karat. I lined her eyes, both top and bottom, with my Dolce & Gabbana Eyeliner in Stromboli and completed the eyes with Shu Uemura Farfallina lashes. To warm up her complexion, we used Laura Mercier Warm Bronze Powder and I brightened her cheeks with MAC blush in Peaches. I then layered on a couple coats of MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in Ravishing to complete her Amy Adam’s look. This look is perfect for both day and night and wasn’t nearly as over the top as mine. Now on to my look. I started with the sultry, smokey eyes inspired by Jennifer Lawrence. I first applied an eyeshadow by Edward Bess in Mystery. I too added along my lashline (and applied wet) the Laura Mercier eyeshadow in Black Karat for a hint of shimmer. I then completely lined my eyes with Loreal’s Infallible eyeliner in Carbon Black and smudged the liner with the remaining shadow I had left on my brush to create that smokey look. I applied one of my favorite bright pink blushes by Too Faced in Sweet Pink to give my cheeks that extra pop of color. Last but not least, the BOLD red, glossy lips. I used Wet n Wild Lipstick in Stoplight Red and topped it off with a MAC lipgloss called Russian Red. To date, this has been one of my most detailed posts on make-up, and it has also been one of my favorites! I cannot tell you how much fun we had shooting these pics, never mind the looks we got while shooting them. After all, this is Hollywood! So whether you are feeling a little daring or just want a fun look, go out and paint the town RED tonight. Have a fabulous Valentine’s Day! You are guaranteed to turn heads- xo
