Love Raised Me, Lipstick Saved Me…

One of the very first posts I did when I started this blog five months ago, was titled “Make-Up to get you through your Break-Up”. I will tell you that sometimes what enables us to heal during a difficult time, is sharing with others how you feel or what you have personally gone through. I have always been an extremely strong, determined and passionate woman and I love with my eyes wide open. The people in my life truly know how much I love and adore them, and at this point in my life, I don’t surround myself with anyone that I don’t absolutely cherish and respect. I have been thinking about my journey these past seven months since an extremely difficult and unexpected break-up. There has always been a part of me that wanted to write an honest and raw blog post about my experience during this difficult time, but it wasn’t until the past month I felt I was really strong enough to talk about it. My mother always told me that everything happens for a reason. I will tell you without a doubt, she was right. If someone had told me this is how my life was going to be seven months ago, I would have never believed it in a million years. I will say I truly LOVE my life. At this very moment, this is exactly where I am supposed to be. I have an amazing family and the best friends a girl could ask for. There are three people in particular that I can honestly say saved me. (and you know who you are:) I thank god every day for the life I have and what is on the horizon. This blog has been such an amazing and creative outlet for me and what is even more amazing, are the opportunities that have come my way and the doors have opened way wider than I ever thought possible. I am a true testament of following your dreams, and ladies, the next time some man walks out of your life, honestly be thankful, because I thank my lucky stars every day that this happened to me. What at the time seemed like the worst thing in the world has become my biggest blessing. Thank you for the continued support and following me on this journey these past five months. I have so many wonderful things happening and once I’m actually allowed to share the news, you’ll be the first to know. Now go put on your boldest and brightest lipstick and show the world what you’re made of. It absolutely worked for me! – xoxo, Jen

Revlon Fire & Ice Super Lustrous Lipstick

Revlon cosmetics have been around for almost 67 years. All I can say is they must being doing something right! One of my very first lipsticks was by Revlon. It was called Frosted Brownie, and who remembers Silver City Pink? The joy of being a teenager. I can happily say that I have graduated in to a more sophisticated woman (most days) and as you all know by now, oh how I adore my red lips! I have too many red lipsticks to even count at this point. I ran across one of Revlon’s classic colors the other day called Fire & Ice. I truly forgot how fabulous this color is. It is a bright, blue red that will flatter most skin tones. I picked mine up at Target for only $4.99. It’s crazy how much money I have spent on high end cosmetics through the years. Sometimes it’s just great to revisit an old classic that doesn’t break the bank. I’m so glad we’ve finally been reunited…and it feels so good. Big Kiss! xoxo

KISS Gel Dress Gel Polish Strips in Sweet Melody

Yes, I know, I’m posting the dreaded nail pictures again. I’m hoping you will strictly just look at my nails! It’s funny how obsessed I am with certain things. My nails ALWAYS have to be well manicured. Since I don’t have a lot of free time, I often times try and stick with pretty basic colors and use only top notch polishes because I feel they definitely last longer. I was at Walgreens today and stumbled across these adhesive gel polish strips by Kiss called Gel Dress. I loved the nude and black color combo and I also loved how they included several different patterns and textures so I could customize my manicure. They were on sale for only $5.99 so I basically didn’t have a lot to lose. Usually I am not a huge fan of these types of nail adhesives because I can never really get them super flat on my nails, but these actually look pretty great once they are on. If you look closely, they aren’t perfect by any means, but for a special occasion I think they are fabulous! They state that they should last up to one week if you use the standard application that I used, but you can also use them with the LED gel lamp for a manicure that lasts up to two weeks. Overall, I’d say, I’m kind of liking these!

Dolce & Gabbana Lipstick & Precision Lip Liner in Dahlia

Another lipstick another day. My mood often times determines what lipstick I am going to wear. This deep lip color is perfect for when I’m feeling a little more conservative and sophisticated than my usual over the top, funky self. I have owned this lipstick for a while and had never actually worn it. Quite frankly, it kind of scared me looking at it in the tube. I first lined my lips with Dolce & Gabbana’s Precision Lip Liner in Dahlia, $30 at Saks.com, and then layered Dolce & Gabbana’s Shine Lipstick in Dahlia, $33 on top. The color is so rich, these pictures do not even do it justice! I will say that this color is absolutely NOT the color to wear on a date. Your boyfriend will be mortified at the thought of kissing these lips. So maybe just save this color for a daring day at the office or a night out with the girls. Once again it’s another hit for Dolce & Gabbana. Will they ever make a product that I don’t LOVE? I hope not-**Shoes by ValentinoWardrobe & styling by Monet Corso

Lord & Berry Runway Long lasting Lip Crayon in FIRE

I realize I definitely have a problem with buying too much make-up! I think I might be boarder line a hoarder, especially when it comes to lipstick. Case in point, I just couldn’t help myself when I was shopping at CVS the other day. I honestly went for Q-tips, but once again I found myself browsing the make-up section. This little lip crayon caught my eye in about two seconds flat! Lord & Berry products have been around for years but mostly in Europe. Of course I reached for the brightest most vibrant shade of red I could find. I rushed home and immediately had to do a lipstick change. All I can say is…AMAZING! This lipstick also stays put for hours and it didn’t dry out my lips like most highly pigmented lipsticks. For a drugstore brand, this little gem was on the pricey side at $9.99, but at the end of the day, it is totally worth it! A picture tells a thousand words- ( & so should your lipstick!)
