Shine Brighter than an OSCAR with Alexis Bittar and Dolce & Gabbana

Let’s just say things get a little crazy in this town around Oscar week! The roads seem to be extra congested, there are parties galore and of course you want to shine as bright as an Oscar itself! It doesn’t matter if you live in Hollywood or not, it’s fun to actually get dressed up and embrace the Oscars. You guys all know by now how much I love a dramatic look, and for me, I wouldn’t feel glamorous if I didn’t wear BOLD, red lips. I feel the key to nailing a cocktail hour (or hours) look, is to make sure your skin is perfectly highlighted from head to toe. So first things first. The best way to apply your highlighter is with the perfect brush. I am lucky enough to have received this Alexis Bittar brush as a gift for Valentine’s Day. This gem of a brush is the perfect synthetic hair powder brush and is 24 karat plated and adorned with Swarovski crystals. This brush is so amazing that it even comes with it’s own black velvet and gold case. It’s the perfect brush to use with your setting powder, or in this case, a highlighting powder. Since I really wanted to amplify my look and make sure my skin is super reflective and polished, I applied my favorite highlighter by Dolce & Gabbana in a hue called Eva. I lightly dusted the powder across my entire face and concentrated on my temples, the bridge of my nose and right below the corners of my eyes. Eva has the perfect pearlescent finish that makes your skin look as though it’s glowing from within. It is not at all glittery, which is one of the hardest things about finding a great highlighter. This makeup also photographs beautifully. With your skin shining so bright, everyone will want to know your name. You might want to start preparing your speech now- And the Oscar goes to…..You!

RIMMEL Match Perfection 2-in-1 Concealer & Highlighter

I happen to pick up this concealer by Rimmel not expecting much. I was at CVS and went to buy a lipstick and they were having a buy one get one half off sale. So I quickly scanned the Rimmel section and spotted this 2-in-1 Concealer and Highlighter in fair 230. I was intrigued because it is called Match Perfection and claims to adjust to any skin tone. Since my final cost was only $3.50 I didn’t have high expectations but I must admit that I LOVE this concealer. I have been wearing it daily now for a week. I have pretty dark circles and with my lack of sleep, my eyes often times look extremely tired. I have dry skin and fine lines that are creeping up with the years and I always avoid concealers that with accentuate it. This concealer is light in texture but does and amazing job at concealing my dark eyes. I love the brush applicator as well. It makes it super simple to quickly apply midday when I want to brighten and refresh my eyes. I love that it helps keep my eye area virtually line free all day too. You have to snatch this little gem up! For less than the price of a latte, you can have beautiful eyes that look like you’ve had a full eight hours of sleep! Amen-

Dolce & Gabbana Aurealux Eye Gel

Do you want to wake up to bright, well rested eyes? I have the answer! I have been an eye cream fanatic from a very young age and became obsessed with warding off those pesky crows feet. I believe you should start using eye creams BEFORE you have an issue and it’s the key to keeping them at bay. With that being said, I have always preferred a thick, emollient cream versus a gel anyday. Well, those days are long gone. After one use of Dolce & Gabanna’s new Aurealux Eye Gel, I knew there was no going back. When I was given this eye gel to try, it honestly sat in my bag for a month. Then one day I was going through my stash of products that I wanted to review and stumbled upon this eye gel. At first I thought, how much could a gel do for my severely tired eyes? When I say TIRED eyes, I mean there are days that I could pass for a zombie! With my lack of sleep, it has really been taking a toll on my face. The consistency of this eye gel is a little odd at first, it almost has a bouncy feel to it as your applying it. The key ingredients that really make this the miracle gel so amazing are vitamin B3, Italian Olive Oil and gold silk sericin. The combination is pure perfection. I apply the Aurealux Eye Gel both morning and night and even sometimes midday if I need a quick pick-me-up. My makeup goes on beautifully over it and my eyes are line free for hours. Although this gel is a little pricey at $72, it is absolutely worth every penny and then some!

Hourglass No 28 Primer Serum

I always tell people beautiful make-up starts with properly prepped skin. Think of your face as a canvas. If your skin is well hydrated and smooth, your make-up will look it’s best. I have extremely dry skin and I have been using primers for the past ten years. I often switch between primers depending on how my skin is behaving at different times of the year. This Hourglass No 28 Primer Serum, $22 for .33 oz. at Sephora, is extremely hydrating. It is more of a treatment than a primer in my opinion, but it does help fill in those fine lines. It is not your typical dimethicone based primer. If you are looking for a primer that is more of a filler, this is not it. This primer calms, soothes, and hydrates your skin perfectly. It contains a blend of 14 essential oils, 10 lipid-rich plant oils, and four vitamins. You should let this primer sink in for a few minutes before you apply your foundation. I find on the days when my skin is extremely dehydrated or fatigued, this is definitely the primer I reach for. It gives your skin a dewy appearance which only gets better as the day goes on. If you have oily skin, you would probably want to skip this during the day. This primer can also be used as a treatment by itself. I sometimes apply this on my freshly cleansed skin before bed. Hourglass primer is a must have for those cold winter days. Prime away!

Dolce & Gabbana Aurealux Serum

I’ve been an avid user of serums for years. Serums are the power players of any skincare routine. They penetrate the skin deeper and treat specific concerns which allow your favorite moisturizer to seal the deal! I have been using the Aurealux Cream by Dolce & Gabbana for a few months now, but about three weeks ago, I added the Aurealux Serum into the mix and it’s amazing. As quick as technology evolves, so does skincare. Scientists are constantly finding breakthroughs that continually up the skincare game. The Aurealux Serum is a fast penetrating formula that is infused with Dolce & Gabbana’s exclusive Gold Flavo-Silk Tricomplex. It also contains italian olive oil extract and vitamin B3, which work beautifully together to help your skin retain moisture and help strengthen your skins elasticity. This serum almost immediately softens any fine lines and helps combats dryness. It does have a slight fragrance which concerned me at first because of my extremely sensitive skin, but it did not cause my eczema to flair for even a second! It is the perfect companion to my Aurealux Cream that I was already using. This combo also provides a super smooth base underneath my makeup. I use both products morning and night, and love how my skin looks and feels when I wake up in the morning. The Aurealux Serum is pricey at $129, and is sold exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue, but it’s absolutely worth every penny!
