Make-up to get you through your break-up

Ok ladies. I’m going to talk about something I know each of us has gone through at least once in our lives. The dreaded break-up! I’m going through one right now and I must admit, I’ve pretty much gone through an entire tube of concealer. Not to mention a bottle of visine and let’s not forget the Kleenex. I was talking to a girlfriend the other day about how my make-up routine has gone from either a “super smokey” eye to camouflage my dark circles or I go the extreme opposite, bold lips and oversized sunglasses. Even though you may not feel your best, you can still look amazing. Sometimes it’s the small things that boost our confidence during a difficult time. Plus, the best revenge is to look pretty darn amazing when you run into your ex. Even better, you may meet the “real” man of your dreams. So go ahead and splurge on that expensive lipstick you’ve been eyeing. You deserve it!

It’s that time of year…already?

time

It’s that time of year again. I know, already? I just had to give a shout out to Sephora. They have the best gift boxes and packaging this year, and yes, they are free with a purchase. The boxes are so stunning, there is absolutely no need to wrap. You will quickly learn that Sephora is one of my favorite stores to browse and I feel inspired every time I set foot inside this place. It’s the ultimate candy store for all people obsessed with make-up. Since I shop there often, I’ve already started racking up my boxes for the holidays. Friends, guess what you’re getting for Christmas?

Eclos Instant Radiance Facial Scrub

This is one of those drugstore products I can’t live without! When I say it instantly makes your wrinkles disappear, I mean it. This scrub is one of the best scrubs I have ever used. I have tried at least 15 scrubs through the years and this one takes the cake. It retails for $12.99 at Ulta.com and select Walgreens stores. One tube lasts me a few months. I use this scrub at least three times a week and it’s never too harsh or drying. I periodically use Retin-A and this does not irritate my skin with that combination like most scrubs. I highly recommend following your exfoliation with a hydrating mask for at least 20 minutes to seal in the moisture. This product definitely leaves you with glowing, dewy skin.

Dolce & Gabbana The Lipstick Classic Cream Lipstick in Nude-50

Let me start by saying for the past few years I have been obsessed with red lipstick. My new favorite in YSL’s Le Orange 13, which we will get to another day. But my signature look for years was a sultry, smokey eye with a glossy nude lip. When I had the opportunity to try Dolce & Gabbana’s The Lipstick Classic Cream Lipstick in Nude-50, $32 sold at select Saks Fifth Avenue stores and Sephora.com, I was blown away. Usually, if I do a light lip it must be layered with tons of gloss. But this lipstick is the perfect consistency and gives you super pigmented luscious lips. There is absolutely no need for a gloss. It’s no surprise I have another favorite Dolce & Gabbana product! I’m in LOVE-

YSL Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stain in 18 Rose Pastelle

This Yves Saint Laurent lip stain gets rather high marks from other reviewers, but I must admit, there is just something a bit off about this lip stain. I love the color, but the texture is quite drying ( as with most stains) but I’m not sure where they get the glossy part from in the name? The only way I am able to wear this is underneath a sheer gloss. I hate to give a bad review on this one, especially since so many people like it, but i just don’t love it. Maybe it’s the color I have which is called 18 Rose? In my opinion, this one is a miss for me!
