Sephora VIB: Nars Lip Pencils in Cruella & Rikugien

I have so many lipsticks that I can probably go an entire year without wearing the same one twice! I think it’s pretty well understood that I spend way too much money on makeup and skincare, but what the heck, you only live once! Every year around my birthday, I make my way to Sephora so I can spend MORE money on myself with justification ( Happy Birthday to me) and pick up my VIB Birthday gift. Some years are better than others, but this year they hit it out of the ballpark. I’ve been a fan on NARS for too many years to count or even want to publicly acknowledge, but I silently squealed with excitement when I realized the gift was a set of two Nars lip pencils. One is a classic but bold matte red called Cruella and the other a beautiful satin pinkish rose nude in a shade called Rikugien. I truly adore both textures and the colors are as different as night and day. Of course I’m a daily wearer of bold, bright hues, but still love a great nude lip paired with a smokey eye. I have had my eye on these NARS pencils for a while now and I can’t wait to try many more. Their colors are intensely pigmented, long wearing and a breeze to apply. I think I might just have to up my spending allowance. Sigh- Thanks to Sephora and Nars for giving me such a great birthday gift! xx

DUO Latex Free Brush On Adhesive

I have tried almost every strip lash adhesive under the sun. I used to love DUO adhesive back in the day until I developed a horrible allergy to latex. Which might I add is in SO MANY lash adhesives. It has become slightly easier over the years to find latex free glue, but there have not been many that really impressed me. I was at Sephora the other day and ran across this DUO brush on adhesive that is latex and formaldehyde free. I usually prefer to use black adhesive but they only had this in clear. I quickly snatched it up and have been loving it ever since. Only a small amount is needed to keep my lashes in place for hours and it’s also super easy to remove and does not pull out my real lashes, which is a huge plus!

Amazing Cosmetics Amazing Concealer

I’m somewhat of a concealer junkie. Well, with that being said, I’m a junkie of most cosmetics and skincare! I was recently sent Amazing Cosmetics Amazing Concealer in Light Golden. I have tried this concealer in the past, but like most things, you start using something new and you forget about one of your favorites. Once I used this again, I realized how much I truly adore this concealer. It just might be the only concealer I’ll ever need! I LOVE this concealer for so many reasons. It is super pigmented and a tiny dot goes a very long way. The consistency is really creamy, emollient and never settles into my fine lines. It’s perfect for covering blemishes and discoloration as well. It does an amazing job at brighting my under eye area and it never flairs my eczema. It’s packed full of Vitamin E which is a great anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory and it also contains cucumber fruit extract that works wonders on puffiness and it helps soften and sooth the delicate area around my eyes. I also discovered that this works well as a shadow primer too There are so many reasons to love this concealer, that I can go on and on!

The Reason I LOVE Makeup!

I have been infatuated with makeup from a very young age. I grew up in a household with two sisters, one being my identical twin! I always looked up to my older sister and have always thought she was absolutely beautiful. She looked almost exactly like Brooke Shields…no lie. Our Mom, although she barely ever wore a stitch of makeup was beautiful too. With her Cherokee Indian roots and super light green eyes, she was stunning and still is and one of the most amazing women I know. My twin sister and I on the other hand, well let’s just say weren’t quite as blessed. Haha. We were super skinny, way taller than most of our classmates and had freckles and these really bad unruly bangs. We belonged to a dance studio growing up that competed a lot and also did major production shows a few times a year. There was a woman named Gail that was the Mom of a few of our fellow classmates and she always did the most amazing makeup on the girls. I would sit there for hours just watching every step of how she applied makeup. It was at that point I realized you don’t have to just accept what God has given you, you can treat your face like a blank slate and create beautiful works of art that can transform your face completely. I believe one of the most beautiful things a woman can embrace is confidence. We all have a feature or two that we can embrace as well. Whether it’s beautiful eyes, a great smile or gorgeous hair. Find the things that YOU LOVE most and embrace them. Forget focusing on the things you don’t like. We’ve all had acne, crooked teeth, bad hair or a few extra pounds we would like to shed and let’s not forget those pesky wrinkles. That’s life! What captures the hearts of the people that matter most, is a beautiful soul. I wanted to write this post and show people what I look like every night before I go to bed without a stitch of makeup. The top left photo was taken a few nights ago before going to bed. I always wash my face with my Clarisonic and then apply my skincare routine even if I’m tired, I do this religiously. Your skin does it’s best work while you’re sleeping. My point being is, take note at my less than perfect skin, dark circles and eyebrows that aren’t exactly as full as I’d like them to be (but I have found a miracle product that has helped and can’t wait to share my secret at some point) and look at those skimpy lashes. With the application of makeup, you have the ability to look and express yourself exactly as you want. I am always more comfortable with a full face of makeup, but that’s just me. No one is perfect, but loving yourself and being confident in who you are will take you places you’ve never dreamed of! I promise. We are all beautiful, we just have to believe it ourselves and everyone else will too! xx

Benefit Cosmetics: Watt’s Up!

I get on these major kicks where I love something and then I have to try every version of it! It’s the story of my life. The past few weeks I have become obsessed with anything that adds a luminous glow to my skin. On my quest for perfect skin, I discovered Watt’s Up by Benefit. I love that it has a champagne tone to it and it’s perfect for highlighting so many parts of my face. I  use it across the bridge of my nose, temples, check bones, brow bone and my cupids bow. It’s all about the proper placement of highlighters that take lack luster skin to a glowing masterpiece. I love this one especially because it is a cream to powder formula that is virtually foolproof. What you are left with is perfectly glowing skin that refuses to be ignored. Viola!
